Carbon Footprint Management

Establishing the baseline of a company’s carbon footprint is the first step in the development of an Environmental Strategy. This is the foundation to which a planned carbon reduction policy is built on.

Coastal Power Solutions (CPS) adheres strictly to global best practice in the form of the Green House Gas Protocol in the calculation of your company’s carbon footprint. The assessment includes looking at all utilities including electricity, water, waste, travel, fuels and paper etc and converting these utilities into tons of CO2.

Outcomes of this assessment include a detailed breakdown of your total emissions as well as recommendations on how to reduce these emissions which will be done with our in-house CO2 analysts.

CPS will work with your staff to set timelines and budgets to meet targets for your reduction strategy. We will then guide you through the implementation stage and constantly monitor your company’s progress.

Ongoing monitoring and reduction of your company’s carbon emissions presents your company with a PR opportunity when the world moves into a greener future.

Coastal Power Solutions will then enter into monitoring agreements with its clients to ensure they are always aware of their own progress and new innovations which can help with the reduction process.

Coastal Power Solutions interacts with your own building monitoring systems and reports in real time on energy consumption per building, phase and/or circuit.

Carbon Neutrality

A Carbon Neutral status means that your business in any given 12 months has offset its emissions by 100%.

Slow method: First you assess your footprint. Once we achieve a baseline, we advise a reduction strategy to reduce your emissions every year until you have achieved carbon neutrality.

This would involve considerable investment to offset your final emissions that cannot be cut through efficiency methods. Solutions are dependant on your type of business but might include solar, wind, biomass or another. Offsetting can also involve purchasing carbon credit certificates from a carbon project that meets your triple bottom line investment criteria.

The faster route: If you want carbon neutrality immediately and are not willing to embark on a reduction strategy or if your business has a very small footprint then you can achieve carbon neutrality status by purchasing carbon offset certificates to the amount of your CO2 emissions.

E.g. CO2 footprint is 10 tons and you annually buy 10 tons of CO2 from a carbon offset project then you will achieve carbon neutral status in any given year.

Coastal Power solutions will help you choose the right strategy for your business to ensure that you get the most out of your carbon footprint reduction.
